Financial Advisor, Albany Office
Role:
Cannon Financial Strategists provides the Financial Advisor (FA) the opportunity to serve clients and retirement plan participants in a collaborative, professional, team-based structure. The independent, objective culture of the firm fosters a great place to build a career and allows the FA to focus on providing unbiased and thoughtful advice. FA services offered include, but are not limited to, retirement plan consulting, financial planning, investment management, risk management, and executive benefit planning.
Responsibilities:
- The FA utilizes an advice-based approach to financial solutions while performing various functions, including but not limited to, involvement in the generation of customized financial plans and related asset movement, analysis of various financial scenarios, solving for complex retirement, estate, insurance, and tax scenarios
- Serve as a liaison between the retirement plan service providers and plan participants
- Develop the required skills and knowledge to meet independently with individual clients and retirement plan participants with the purpose of understanding their financial situation and delivering individualized financial plans and advice
- Successfully transition, engage, and deepen existing client and retirement plan participant relationships from other FA’s within the firm
- Provide plan-level support for retirement plans while promoting plan participation and education
- Assist with project-based work designed to enhance Cannon in a wide range of areas
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Outstanding ability to think creatively to identify and resolve problems

- An ability to clearly and articulately communicate thoughts and points, including technical concepts, effectively to a varied audience to allow them to make informed decisions
- Understanding of systems and procedures related to investment management and financial planning
- Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and/or projections
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in an environment where priorities and deadlines can change rapidly

- Strong computer skills including proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
- Ability to readily learn and efficiently utilize industry specific software and related procedures

- Strong organizational skills that can be effectively applied to independent project and time management
- Successfully obtain FINRA Series 65 license within mutually agreed upon time. Additional licenses and or certifications may, or may not, be required
- Willingness and reasonable availability to independently or team travel to Cannon locations, client sites, training events, and industry related conferences
- Unwavering ethics, and a willingness to sign and abide by confidentiality, non-solicitation, and non-disclosure agreements as appropriate and required
Desired skills and abilities:
- Experience in the Financial Services industry, enthusiasm for the role, and have the keen interest in making a meaningful impact on the lives of others
- Strong technical knowledge of financial planning topics including the ability to solve for complex retirement, estate, insurance, and tax scenarios
- Experience interacting directly with clients and/or 403(b), 401(k), and 457 retirement plan participants
- Experience consulting on and structuring existing executive benefits plans
- Solid knowledge of the financial planning and wealth management industry
Additional Notes:
- Ability to sit for an extended period, hear, see, lift no less than 20 pounds
- This position is contingent on background check results that are acceptable to the employer
- It is understood that this position will have a varied work schedule at times
- Client and retirement plan participant meetings often occur at client locations
- Persons possessing current financial services industry specific designation(s) including, but not limited to, CFP®, and/or FINRA Series 6, 7, 65, and/or 66 licenses are preferred
