Role

The Associate collaborates with Financial Advisors (FA) in a team structure to serve our clients and retirement plan participants by providing unbiased and thoughtful advice.  Associate and FA services offered include, but are not limited to, retirement plan consulting, financial planning, investment management, and risk management.  Client and retirement plan participant meetings often occur at the client location.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance to the FA by performing various functions, including but not limited to; involvement in the generation of financial plans and related asset movement, analysis of various financial scenarios, handle telephone calls and other requests/inquiries, preparing and/or originating materials and/or correspondence for the FA, and resolving issues
  • Develop the required skills and knowledge to independently meet with individual clients and retirement plan participants
  • Develop the skills needed to successfully serve as a Financial Advisor to clients
  • Develop the skills needed to successfully transition, grow, and retain existing client and retirement plan participant relationships from other Financial Advisors within the firm
  • Provide plan-level support for retirement plans and promote plan participation
  • Serve as a liaison between the service provider and the retirement plan participant
  • Assist in retirement plan participant educational events and initiatives
  • Assist with project-based work designed to enhance Cannon in a wide range of areas (C-Dev)
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Education Requirements:

  • Two to five years of experience in a related position
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Outstanding ability to think creatively to identify and resolve problems

Required job skills and abilities:

  • Successfully obtain FINRA Series 65 license within mutually agreed upon time period to qualify for registration. Additional licenses and or certifications may or may not be required
  • Good verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Understanding of systems and procedures related to investment management and financial planning
  • Ability to analyze and interpret financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and/or projections
  • An ability to clearly and articulately communicate thoughts and points, including technical concepts, effectively to a varied audience
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, project management and time management skills
  • Ability to multi-task and prioritize work in an environment where priorities and deadlines can change rapidly
  • Strong attention to detail and independent problem-solving skills
  • Computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word
  • Ability to readily learn and efficiently utilize industry-specific software and related procedures
  • High level of integrity and self-motivation
  • Strong ethics with a willingness to sign and abide by both a confidentiality agreement and a non-solicitation agreement
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team and foster a cooperative work environment
  • Ability to accomplish organizational goals by accepting ownership to fully completing responsibilities
  • Ability to properly handle confidential information and a strong sense of discretion
  • Ability to independently travel on a regular basis to Cannon client locations, attend training events, conferences, and/or other locations

Desired skills and abilities:

  • Experience in the Financial Services industry
  • Experience interacting directly with clients and/or retirement plan participants
  • Financial services industry-specific designation(s) including, but not limited to, CFP®
